30 January 2020, Durban: The registration season for intakes in higher education and training institutions is fast gaining momentum, with a noticeable hype of open days, information workshops and inductions happening across the country’s colleges, universities and TVET’s’.
Ikhono Foundation, with its vested interest in championing the affairs of the youth, wishes to caution all young people within its radar to be aware of the many mushrooming institutions such as colleges that are not officially registered with the South African Department of Higher Education & Training.
During this time of the year, there is an influx of people seeking placement into these colleges and universities, with many not meeting the requirements, and some still waiting for approval of their pending application statuses. “Do not be enticed by the lure of the promise of internationally recognized qualifications and jobs without checking the credentials of the institutions.” says Zodwa Msimang who is the Chairperson of Ikhono Foundation.
